Welcome to ToriFan’s World
Hello and welcome to all who venture to visit this site. Please allow me to introduce myself. I call myself ToriFan, or Tori for short, because I am a die-hard Tori Amos fan. More on her later.
I have a serious interest in all things related to music, film, television, and literature. As you’ll see, the site is divided up into sections. I will comment and spew off humor and insights on all of these topics, just because I can.
I love to write most of all, and I encourage all readers to write me back. You can e-mail me, you can make comments, and you can bring up any topic. There are a few ground rules, however. We do not believe in censorship, but we will not tolerate homophobia, racism, misogyny, or hatred of any kind. We are all about love, open minds, open hearts, and open discussion.
Humor is loved an appreciated here, but we can be serious too. So… welcome… buckle up… the ride is known to pass by the circus…

ToriNews #15
I saw Radiohead in concert this past Wednesday night, and they were phenomenal! I missed my chance to see them when they opened for Alanis Morrisette years ago (we were late arriving), then I saw them play an abbreviated set at the Tibetan Freedom Concert, and now I finally saw a complete set. In looking at my concert ticket stubs, I saw that I have been to thirty eight concerts in my day. I've seen quite a few shows that I would call perfect (Tori Amos six times, Nirvana, U2, Oasis, Fleetwood Mac, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sarah McLachlan, to name some of the best I've seen). I would count this recent show as very high on the list.
The set list was as follows:
- The Gloaming
- Sit Down. Stand Up
- Where I End and You Begin
- Airbag
- Pyramid Song
- Paranoid Android (a personal favorite; flawless performance)
- A Wolf at the Door
- Sail to the Moon
- You and Whose Army
- There There
- Go to Sleep
- Dollars and Cents
- We Suck Young Blood
- Idioteque
- Creep (timeless classic)
- National Anthem
Encore 1:
- I Will
- Myxomatosis
- Just
- How to Disappear Completely
Encore 2:
- No Surprises (one of my favorite Radiohead songs)
- Everything in it's Right Place
If you know Radiohead's music, you will know that this was a well-rounded set. The newer songs sounded fresh and the older ones sounded intense. Thom Yorke has a unique singing voice that is gentle at times but can also be fierce and full of emotion. Such a voice is very rare in rock today. Because I like the drums, I took note of the drummer who was very 'tight' (a term meaning, he had the beats down perfectly). All of the musicians were right on, and we could tell that the band were in synch from touring.
There were four songs that took me away into the stratosphere: Airbag, Paranoid Android, Creep, and No Surprises. Of course, I enjoyed all of the songs, and, as we say, no 'duds' were played. So I've been listening to Radiohead a lot before and since the concert. I'd say they are a great beacon in a land of generic pop, rap, and grunge-wannabees. To sum up the experience, I'll quote from a song they did not play but I have heard them play previously live, my favorite Radiohead song: For a minute there, I lost myself. (Karma Police). And, I mean that in a good way.
Love and Hugs,
ToriFan
